Our Felix Road project in Bristol has now achieved AECB CarbonLite Retrofit certification, completing the transformation of a derelict former bakery into a low-energy home.
The project retains much of the original brick structure, with wood-fibre insulation, recycled cellulose, airtight construction, MVHR and an air-source heat pump forming the basis of the retrofit strategy.
Post-occupancy monitoring has shown stable internal conditions of around 20°C and 55% relative humidity, with the house remaining warm in winter and managing summer temperatures effectively.
It was also featured in an exhibition by Green Register as a good example of how an existing urban building can be retained, adapted and brought up to a high standard of energy performance.
